Terms of Service
Hours of work
This is a term-time role (approx. 38.5 weeks per year), Monday to Saturday. In addition, two days will be worked immediately after the end of a term, and two days before the start of the next. These days will be defined at regular intervals.
Throughout the year normal working hours are 42.5 per week, but the post holder will be expected to vary these, working longer hours in busy periods, taking time off in lieu when possible, with prior agreement of the Head of Catering & Hospitality. The actual hours worked will be recorded each week and extra pay will be given in September for additional hours worked above an average of 42.5 a week throughout the academic year. Time off in lieu will be granted in preference.
The standard start-time will be 8.00am, with finish times varying from 2.00pm until 4.00pm, Monday-Thursday, depending on termly routines. A second shift is required on Fridays, from 5.30 pm until approximately 8.00pm, to support the regular 'Open House' bar for members.
Lunch is not provided for members on Saturdays and so the finish time will be 1.00pm unless the bar is open during the afternoon for members and their guests from other schools. Notification about this duty would be given weekly in advance.
A weekly rota will be devised by the catering management team and communicated in good time.
A 20-minute break should be taken Monday-Friday at a convenient time at the discretion of the post-holder, so that members may be served lunch between 1.00pm and 2.00pm. This time is paid. Breaks should be avoided during the first and last hours of any shift.
The post-holder will be expected to work occasionally to support school events, including but not limited to: dining-in nights (formal Common Room dinners); an annual Saturday open-day each June (attendance required 8.00am until 6.00pm and an evening buffet/barbeque for members of Common Room and their families ahead of the start of a new academic year.
Before and during these occasions it is likely that additional hours will be required: these should be authorised in advance by the Head of Catering& Hospitality.
There may be the opportunity to work extra hours during school holidays for additional pay, at events held for external customers or to support third party residential group bookings.
Uniform and Food
Certain items of uniform and protective clothing will be provided, including shirts, sweatshirts and safety footwear. The post-holder should provide his/her own plain black trousers or skirt and plain white business shirt for formal occasions.

Salary
GBP 15,550 (gross) per annum, paid monthly in arrears equally over 12 months. This includes an amount to cover statutory holiday entitlement.
Probation and Notice Periods
The first four months of employment will be a probationary period. During this time, conduct and performance will be reviewed. The College may extend the probationary period if it is deemed to be required. During the probationary period the notice required to terminate employment will be one week (by either the employee or employer). The notice will increase upon the successful completion of the probationary period.

Initially, when joining the College's pension scheme, employees will become a member of the College's Group Personal Pension Plan (GPP).
