PART I: ABOUT THE ROWING CLUB
Winchester College boat club is an old and well-established school boat club. The club plays an important role in the life of Winchester College and the sporting portfolio. Winchester has a long tradition of sending crews to Henley Royal Regatta, boys to the GB junior team, Oxford and Cambridge Boat race crews and representation for GB at the Olympic games.
In September we are welcoming girls into the sixth form and will be encouraging them to become part of this well-established sporting club. The boat club provides opportunities for pupils to achieve their highest sporting goals supported by a team of dedicated and professional coaches, and a well-equipped fleet. The club also plays an important role for pupils wanting to experience and enjoy rowing without the competitive nature.
Rowing takes place on two sites, the school boat house on the River Itchen a short walk from the main College campus and in Southampton where we row out of the University of Southampton Water Sports centre. The staff work hard to ensure that at both sites pupils are able to access the sport in a safe manner.
Pastorally the boat club is supportive and attentive to needs of pupils and plays an important role in the well-being of pupils.
