Role
To support the Head Invigilator and Examinations Officer with the day-to-day operation of the Examination venues. This may include:
* Assisting with setting up the examination room by laying out stationery, equipment and examination papers in accordance with strict procedures;
* Assisting candidates prior to the start of examinations by directing them to their seats and advising them about the exam room regulations;
* Ensuring that candidates do not talk once inside the examination room;
* Invigilation during examinations, dealing with queries raised by candidates and dealing with examination irregularities, if they occur, in accordance with strict procedure;
* Checking attendance during examinations;
* Recording details of late arrivals;
* Escorting candidates to and from venues during the examinations as required and supervising candidates whilst outside the venues;
* Collecting and collating scripts at the end of the examination in accordance with strict procedures;
* Supervising candidates leaving the examination rooms, ensuring that candidates do not remove stationery or equipment from the room without authorisation and ensuring that candidates leave in an orderly and quiet manner.
To assist Examinations Officer with other examination processes. This may include:
* Assisting with the counting of examination papers, stationery, equipment prior to the examinations and delivery to and from exam rooms;
* Assisting with preparation of seating plans and access arrangements.

Salary
GBP 10.17/hour. This rate includes all statutory holiday entitlement. Salary is paid monthly, in arrears, to a nominated bank account. Payment will be made on the submission of a time sheet.
Hours of Work
Exam invigilators hours of work will vary according to the exams timetable however working hours will typically be 2 half-day sessions from 8.15am - 12.00 noon and again from 1.30pm to 4.00pm. It may be necessary to work out of these normal hours. We are interested in applicants who can work both sessions or either half day session.
Exam Invigilators are employed on a 'zero hours' contract.
Probation and Notice Periods
The first four calendar months of employment will be a probationary period. During this period conduct and performance will be reviewed. The College may extend the probationary period if it is deemed to be required. During the probationary period the notice required to terminate employment will be one week (by either the employee or employer). The notice period will increase to one month upon the successful completion of the probationary period.
Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check
Winchester College is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children at the school. Therefore, this appointment will be subject to a successful Enhanced Disclosure Barring check. This will provide details of convictions, reprimands, warnings, cautions and bind overs as per the DBS filtering guidance. A policy on the recruitment of ex-offenders,and information about DBS filtering, is available upon request from the HR Department if required. The college may approach previous employers to seek verification, in addition to obtaining references provided by the candidate.
